| What’s been your history with unhealthy eating? | | I have been overweight for most of my life. I was born weighing a whopping 12 pounds! I was | a chubby kid, a fat adolescent, back to chubby as a teen. I started taking diet pills at the age of 16 and still never got below a size 14. Then, at 22, I herniated 3 disks in my lower back. By the time I was 29, I had had 3 surgeries. I turned to food to comfort me because I was miserable because I could not do anything. By 29 I was like a 70-year-old woman.
| | What was your turning point? What made you decide to get healthy? | | In September of 2008, I had had enough. The unhealthy eating, the drinking, the smoking — | it ALL had to STOP! Or I was going to die. I could barely make it up and down the stairs to get to my office at work. Every night, when I got to my car, I would be huffing and puffing from 2 flights of stairs and a 100-foot walk across a parking lot. And THAT was the most exercise I got some days. The day after the season premiere of Biggest Loser, I decided to join The Biggest Loser Club. I had my doubts, but I was so tired of being tired, so I thought I might as well give this a try.

| | How has The Biggest Loser Club helped you achieve your weight loss goals? | | One word: SUPPORT. I have actually made what I consider lifelong friends here. We keep | each other accountable. And the experts are great! I was afraid to try some of the exercises in the beginning, and Maria helped me progress slowly without jumping off the cliff.
| | What tips would you like to share with your fellow members? | | Reach out! The support you will receive here will help you go far. Not only in weight loss, | but in finding yourself and maybe even a confidence that you always wanted. I also live by the 80/20 rule, because trying to be perfect 100% of the time is a recipe for disaster. If you stay on plan at least 80% of the time, you WILL lose weight. Also, you may never love it like I have come to, but find a way to exercise. Turns out I enjoy running. Yes! The girl who was famous for faking sprained ankles to get out of gym class now runs for FUN! I have run in many local races and even completed my first half marathon this year. Next year I have every intention of running in a marathon. Start now and maybe you can meet me there. :) Good luck! | | | |
